The KTM RC 125 has been spotted on various occasions being tested on the Indian roads and KTM fanboys have been longing for the sporty motorcycle. Now, KTM has released an official teaser video which shows the motorcycle’s silhouette with the text ‘coming soon. The RC 125 is the fully faired version of the 125 Duke and will be sharing the mechanical components with the popular streetfighter model.
The motorcycle is styled just like its big brothers the RC 200 and the RC 390 and sports twin projector headlights, LED daytime running lights and a sleek LED taillight. The instrument cluster of the motorcycle will be shared from the 125 Duke which is a fully digital unit and shows a plethora of information including, average speed, time, distance to empty, service information and more. The RC 125 is expected to come with two colour options and fresh decals to differentiate the motorcycle from its big brothers the RC 200 and the RC 390. The India-spec model is also likely to get an underbelly exhaust and it may miss out on the side-slung unit offered on the international-spec RC 125.
The engine on the RC 125 will be a 124.7cc single-cylinder DOHC engine with liquid-cooling and the motor produces 14.5 PS of power @ 9250 RPM and 12 Nm of torque @ 8000 RPM coupled to a 6-speed gearbox.
In terms of hardware, the motorcycle is expected to get a steel trellis frame and the motorcycle rides on 43mm upside-down front fork from WP and a multi-step adjustable rear monoshock on an aluminium swingarm. The RC 125 gets 300mm single hydraulically operated disc brakes on the front and a 230mm unit on the rear. The brakes are likely to be equipped with a single-channel ABS.
According to a media report, dealerships have already started to accept bookings for the RC 125 at a refundable price of INR 5000 and the deliveries are expected to commence from July. The motorcycle is expected to be priced approximately INR 10,000 more than the 125 Duke which is priced at INR 1.30 lakh ex-showroom.
In terms of competition the RC 125 will compete with the similarly priced Yamaha YZF R15 Version 3.0.
