KTM 390 Enduro & Adventure Rally variant spotted testing

Written by Kanad Kalasur

Spy images of the new editions of the KTM 390 have surfaced online. It appears that KTM is testing the Rally and Enduro versions of this bike in Europe. These are not just accessorised versions of the regular bike, but it looks like KTM has gone all out to make these as entirely new models.

What’s new on the KTM 390 Enduro & Adventure Rally bikes?

In terms of design, one of the test bikes looked like a rally motorcycle. It has a high-set headlamp, a big and tall windscreen as well as a raised fender. It was equipped with a twin-pod LED headlamp. The bike could come with a twin-TFT screen instrument cluster.

In comparison, the Enduro version appeared more subtle. It was equipped with minimal body panels, a more straightforward instrument cluster and an LED headlight.

In terms of hardware, there have been some significant changes. The test mules were equipped with 21-inch front wheels. These were wire-spoke rims as well. The road version of the bike is fitted with 19-inch alloy wheels. Additionally, other bits like the suspension, chassis, meaty Metzeler tyres and the updated swing arm ensure that the bike is more convenient off-the-road than on the tarmac.

While we don’t yet know the exact specifications of the engine, it appears to have been reworked by KTM engineers. The casing has been updated, which could mean that the engine is no longer the same unit from the road-going KTM 390.

Production and Launch of the new KTM 390 Enduro & Adventure Rally

The KTM 390 Adventure Enduro and Rally versions are most likely to be manufactured at Bajaj’s Chakan plant. The bikes are primarily designed for overseas markets. Still, given the fact that the company is manufacturing them in India, it seems plausible that they would be launched here as well in the near future.
