Last year after KTM unveiled the 390 Adventure in the Indian market the brand also revealed the 250 Adventure in the ASEAN market. The quarter-litre adventure class motorcycle was also spotted testing in the Indian market leading us to believe that the brand is likely to expand the adventure portfolio in the Indian market with the new motorcycle. While the brand is tight-lipped on the new motorcycle, sources indicate that the new 250cc Adventure motorcycle will be launched in India in the coming weeks.
The new KTM 250 Adventure is expected to be priced around the 2.5 lakh mark making it roughly INR 50,000 cheaper than the KTM 390 Adventure and more affordable for budding touring enthusiasts and off-road aficionados. The price bracket will also enable KTM to compete with the Royal Enfield Himalayan. The KTM 250 Adventure will come with a similar design and styling reverberating with the 390 Adventure.
The mechanical bits such as the 19-inch front rims and long-travel suspension setup is also likely to be shared. The 250 Adventure is also likely to come with the full LED headlamp setup which was recently seen on the 2020 BS6 KTM 250 Duke an is borrowed from the 390 Duke. The 250 Adventure is likely to retain the 320mm single disc with a 4-piston fixed calliper on the front and a 230mm single disc with a single-piston floating calliper on the rear wheel armed with a Bosch Dual-Channel ABS unit.
Earlier spy shots also revealed that the 250 Adventure will sport a full-colour TFT display as well. But the 250 Adventure is not likely to come with features such as MTC (lean angle sensitive) disengageable traction control system, Cornering ABS and a bi-directional quickshifter. But the adventure class motorcycle is expected to come with an Off-road mode for the ABS brake setup (rear-wheel ABS deactivation).
The powertrain is also likely to be retained from the 250 Duke that is powered by a BS6 compliant 248.8cc, single-cylinder, 4-Valve, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, DOHC engine that churns out 30 PS of power and 24 Nm of torque coupled to a 6-speed gearbox with an assist & slipper clutch. We don’t expect any changes to the gearing either. The KTM 250 Adventure will be a more easy to ride motorcycle even within the city, unlike the 390 Adventure which likes to be revved hard.
