KTM 125 Duke price hiked by INR 5,000

KTM has announced yet another price hike for the popular 125 Duke, but this time it is by INR 5,000. The KTM 125 Duke first saw a price hike of almost INR 7,000 on the introductory price of INR 1.18 lakh ex-showroom. Until recently, the price was hiked again by INR 250 and now with the new price hike, the motorcycle will retail with a price of INR 1.30 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi.

The Indian-spec version misses out on the 390 Duke inspired styling which has a full LED headlight and TFT colour display instrument console. The current 125 Duke is styled based on the big brother 200 Duke and the chassis on the 125 Duke is a lightweight steel trellis frame with welded sub-frame and the motorcycle rides on a 43mm upside-down front fork and an adjustable monoshock at the rear. The brakes consist of a 300mm front and a 230mm rear disc with a single channel ABS

In the Indian market, the KTM 125 Duke now matches the more powerful Yamaha MT-15 according to the price point. The MT-15 is priced at INR 1.36 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi and the Yamaha’s naked street fighter MT-15, gets a conventional telescopic fork and LED headlamps. The engine on the MT-15 is powered by a 155cc liquid-cooled, single cylinder SOHC engine with 4-valve VVA (variable valve actuation). The engine produces 19.3 PS of power and 14.7 Nm of torque coupled to a 6-speed slipper assist clutch. On the other hand, the KTM 125 Duke is powered by a 124.71cc liquid-cooled, single cylinder, 4-valve DOHC engine that produces 15.2 PS of power and 12 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

Apart from the Yamaha MT-15 the KTM 125 Duke also rivals the Apache RTR 200-4V ABS and Bajaj Pulsar NS200. Also, the bike is now approximately INR 32,000 cheaper than the larger displacement KTM 200 Duke.
