The Ducati Panigale V4 is the first super bike to features the Race eCBS function. The Race eCBS function for the track is a combined anti-lock braking system with a cornering functionality. The Race eCBS on the Ducati has been developed in collaboration with Bosch and has the capability to automatically apply braking pressure to the rear wheel.
The Ducati Race eCBS automatically applies braking pressure to the rear wheel when the rider uses the front brakes. The motorcycle calculates the lean angle and rear load and applies brake pressure through predefined strategies. Thanks to this, the system is capable of replicating the “post run” function, which is what professional riders do to tighten their cornering trajectory and keep the bike stable.
The system can be set through 7 levels, and offers greater stability in braking as well as in deceleration. The Race eCBS also helps the rider achieve a better corner entry as the bike is more stable during the deceleration stage. In addition to this, the Race eCBS also ensures that maximum rear brake repeatability while reducing the effort at the brake lever.
While the system intervenes with the rear brake pressure on track to stabilize the motorcycle in the corner and further increasing the cornering speed and entry, it also offers heightened stability and safety during road use. This not only makes the Race eCBS a sharp tool for the race track but also a paramount technology for roads. Thanks to the Race eCBS professional riders will also benefit during races as they do not need to focus on the rear brake and instead can direct focus on other areas improving their lap timings.
