Kia India will launch its much-awaited electric car EV6 on June 2, 2022. The carmaker also confirmed that bookings will start from May 26. As of now, only 100 units will make their way to the Indian shores via the CBU route. The expected price is around INR 50 to 60 lakhs.
What Do We Know So Far?
Kia has not revealed the powertrain and battery specification as of yet. We understand that both the RWD and AWD variants will make their way to India. Furthermore, a smaller 58 kWh battery with more units and variants is also in the plans for next year. For the international market, Kia EV6 gets two battery options a 58 kWh battery and a 77.4 kWh battery. Here in India, we won’t get the 58 kWh as of yet. As far as the battery’s range is concerned, the larger battery pack paired with the RWD powertrains delivers the longest range, 528 km on the WLTP range. The AWD drive powertrain gets a claimed range of 425 km, with performance figures of 320 BHP and 605 Nm.
The key takeaway from the EV6 is its futuristic-looking outlook. At first glance, the EV6 will certainly attract a lot of attention. As expected from a Kia, EV6 comes with a host of features and tech. On the inside, the driver will also appreciate the aids on offer. The key features are the twin 12.3-inch screens for the digital instrument cluster and touchscreen, memory seats, dual-zone climate control, adaptive LED headlamps, 64-colours ambient lighting, a sunroof and more. For the AWD version, the additional offered features are an augmented reality heads-up display,pop-out door handles, powered tailgate, and a 14-speaker Meridian sound system.
In the safety aspect, 8 airbags, ABS, ESC, multi-collision braking, and hill start assist will be standard fitment. ADAS is also on offer, including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keep Assist, etc.
