Kia teases new SUV for India, will offer lounge style interiors

Kia has officially teased its upcoming SUV for the Indian market, promising a lounge-style interior. The yet-to-be-named model is expected to be launched in early 2025 as part of Kia’s Kia 2.0 Strategy for the region.

What does the Teaser Say?

The teaser images reveal a minivan-inspired silhouette with a boxy design and a nearly vertical tailgate. The SUV features sharp LED headlights, L-shaped taillights, and sculpted fenders, giving it a bold and modern appearance. The design is said to be inspired by Kia’s EV9 and Carnival models, offering a futuristic and progressive SUV design language.

What to Expect?

The new SUV will be built on a new architecture, offering both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric powertrain options. At launch, it is expected to be available with a 1.2-liter naturally-aspirated petrol engine, powering the front wheels via a manual or automatic gearbox.

Kia has emphasized the importance of space and comfort in the new SUV, aiming to bridge the gap between its Sonet and Seltos models. The lounge-style cabin is designed to provide a premium and comfortable experience, with features like a digital cockpit, automatic climate control, and rear AC vents.

The upcoming SUV is anticipated to offer advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), a 360-degree camera, and front and rear parking sensors, ensuring a safe and convenient driving experience. The SUV will also come equipped with up to six airbags and rear disc brakes, enhancing its safety credentials.

Kia has not yet revealed the official name of the new SUV, but it is rumored to be called Clavis or Syros. The vehicle has been spotted testing in India on various occassions. The company plans to provide more details about the SUV in the coming months, ahead of its market launch in 2025.
