Kia India has continued to build anticipation for its upcoming Kia Syros compact SUV with a series of new teasers, hinting at a global debut in December 2024. The Syros is expected to slot between the Kia Sonet and Kia Seltos closing the need for a SUV in the vacant segment.
The latest teasers reveal a bold and modern design with vertically stacked 3-pod LED headlights and long vertical LED DRLs. The front fascia features a wider honeycomb grille, while the rear boasts L-shaped LED tail lights and roof rails, giving the SUV a premium and rugged appearance. The teaser also hints at a panoramic sunroof, a feature highly sought after by buyers.
Inside, the Syros is expected to feature a dual 10.25-inch display setup for the infotainment and driver’s display, similar to the Sonet and Seltos. The cabin will likely include ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, and a wireless phone charger. Safety features are expected to include 6 airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, a reversing camera, and electronic stability control (ESC).
While KIA has not yet confirmed the full engine lineup, it is anticipated that the Syros will offer the same powertrain options as the Sonet. This includes a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine, and a 1.5-liter diesel engine. The petrol variants are expected to come with a 6-speed automatic transmission, while the diesel variant may offer a 6-speed manual transmission.
The Syros is expected to be priced competitively, starting around INR 9 lakh (ex-showroom). Kia aims to position the Syros as a premium offering. The price segment also has the Tata Curvv and the Citroen Basalt that will compete with the Syros.
