Kia Sonet & Seltos HTK Plus variants to be discontinued

Kia is streamlining the variants line on the Sonet and Seltos SUV in the Indian market. According to a media report, the brand will be discontinuing the HTK+ trim on both the Sonet and Seltos from mid-April 2021. The move to rationalize the variant line-up is through customer feedback and booking trend. The updated line-up will be revealed soon.

Leaked Documents

According to the leaked documents that suggest that the manufacturer will be discontinuing the HTK+ trim, reveals that the brand has also asked its dealer partners to not accept bookings on the Kia Seltos HTK+ and Sonet HTK+ from 1st April onwards. Bookings made till the 31st of March 2021 will be served as per the communicated waiting period. This means the Kia Sonet HTK+ 1.0-litre Petrol DCT, the Sonet HTK+ 1.5-litre Diesel Automatic and the Kia Seltos HTK+ 1.5-litre Diesel Automatic will be removed from the trim line.

Kia Sonet

The compact SUV is sold in two trims – ‘Tech Line’ and ‘GT Line’. The Tech Line consists of HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX and HTX+ variants and the GT Line comes with a single fully loaded GTX+ trim. Powering the Sonet is a 1.2-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine, a 1.0 T-GDi turbo-petrol motor and two diesel engine options with a 1.5-litre CRDi diesel motor that comes in two different tunes. The brand offers the Sonet with a 5-speed manual transmission, a 6-speed manual transmission, a clutch-pedal less 6-speed iMT (intelligent manual transmission), a 6-speed torque converter type automatic gearbox and a  7-speed DCT automatic (Dual Clutch Transmission).

Kia Seltos

Similarly, the Kia Seltos is also available in the twin-trim concept with a Tech Line and a GT Line. The Tech Line consists of HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX AE, HTX+ and the GT Line consists of GTX and GTX+ trims. Powering the Seltos is a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine, a turbo-diesel motor with 1.5-litre of displacement and a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine. The Seltos is available with a 6-speed manual gearbox, a torque converter type 6-speed automatic transmission and a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox.

The brand is holding a media event on the 27th of April 2021 where the new variant line-up as well as the new Seltos which is likely to be the Seltos Gravity will be revealed.
