The compact SUV segment is all heated with multiple options and rising sales volume. No wonder every major automaker in the country is trying to add its representative to the segment. Kia Sonet is one such product which has received much love from the customers. The sub-4-metre SUV has already crossed the 1.5 launch sales milestone in just two years of its launch. This speaks volumes of the customers’ trust in Kia as a brand. The rising sales of Seltos and Carens, too, are positive indicators of the current state of Kia as a brand.
As per Kia, 26 per cent of the customers have opted for the top variants, i.e. all the X Plus variants. The innovative iMT transmission, too, is garnering significant sales, contributing close to 25% to Sonet’s total sales. For Kia India, Sonet’s sales volume contributed over 32 per cent. In the compact SUV segment, Sonet shares a market share of almost 15 per cent, which is a significant figure. All these facts and figures prove Indian customers’ love for the Sonet.
Diesel is not a top pick amongst various carmakers but is doing well for the Sonet. The diesel trims of the SUV contributed a healthy 41 per cent to the overall matrix. This is a big statement proving that many customers still prefer diesel. The Sonet’s most preferred colours are Glacier White Pearl and Aurora Black Pearl, making them a popular sight on Indian roads with a 44 per cent contribution in the overall dispatches.
What also makes the Sonet a perfect pick is its diverse powertrain options. Multiple gearboxes and engine options make the car suitable for a large section of customers. This is one of the major reasons for the high sales volume of the SUV. With top-notch features, competitive prices and a wide dealership network, the Sonet will remain in the game for a long time.
