The first ‘Kia’ product in India called the Seltos has made its global debut today. The much-awaited SUV will rival the likes of Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Renault Captur, MG Hector and Tata Harrier among others. The name is derived from the Greek God ‘Celtos’, the son of Hercules in the Greek mythology, renamed ‘Seltos’ by Kia. The Kia Seltos will be sold globally but the car is designed with the Indian market in mind.
The Seltos Design language is fresh and based on the SP2i Concept. On the exterior, the Kia Seltos gets a signature tiger face grille with a diamond knurling on the grille and a silver frame with the integrated Heart-Beat graphic LED daytime running lights, LED headlight, vertically aligned LED fog lamps, a floating roof design with roof rails, extended window graphics, black cladding on wheel arches, 3D LED taillights, the rear gets a sculpted aluminium garnish, dual exhaust finishers,. The Seltos will come with 8 colour combinations with 5 two-tone options.
On the interior the Kia Seltos features a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with an 8-speaker system, 8-inch heads up display, 360-degree camera, blind-spot rear view monitor (BRVM), smart air purifier, ventilated seats, 2-step reclining second-row seats, curtains in the second-row windows, 12V charging socket in the second row, various storage spaces and more.
In terms of connected technologies, the Seltos comes with 37 UVO connected features some of the highlight are a voice command system, remote immobilisation, remote engine start & stop, remotely operated Air Purifier and in-car air quality monitor, safety alert (Geo fence, Time Fence, Speed, Valet, Idle), auto collision notification, SOS-emergency assistance, etc
In the engine department, the Kia Seltos will come with a BSVI compliant engine from day one on all variants. The engine options are – a Diesel, a naturally aspirated petrol and a turbocharged petrol engine. The engines will feature three driving modes – Normal, Eco and Sports and the SUV comes equipped with multiple grip controls. Drivers can choose from – Mud, Wet and Sand mode depending on road condition. The mid-size SUV also claims to get the segment first 1.4 Turbo GDI with 7-speed DCT transmission.
The transmission options will be a IVT (intelligent variable transmission) equivalent to a CVT, a 7-speed DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) a 6-speed automatic transmission and a 6-Speed manual transmission.
In terms of safety, Seltos gets 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, Hill Assist Control, Vehicle Stability management and is built on robust structure, which has a high usage of advanced high strength steel (AHSS) and a lot of other safety features.
