Kia Motors have released the first sketch of it much-awaited mid segment SUV which will be manufactured in India. The mid-SUV is based on the SP concept which was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo, and now Kia has released a sketch of the final product which will be introduced in India later this year. The sketches from Kia Motors unveil the exterior appearance of the production ready car.
Rumours have suggested that this SP Concept based Kia SUV might be called the Tusker in India.
The mid-SUV from Kia is the brand’s first product in the Indian market and will feature elements like a Tiger nose grille with a mesh pattern, projector LED headlights which extend towards the grille along with LED daytime running lights. The lights feature a diamond pattern, a bumper integrated vertically stacked LED fog lamp, a muscular bonnet with well defined crease lines and a large air dam on the front.
Looking at the sketches the rear end, the car appears to have a full LED tail lamp unit in a C-shaped design with 3D elements, a large bumper with reflectors and exhaust finishers are expected to be in chrome. The mid-SUV appears to be low squatting and has a small rear windscreen.
For easy reference, the Kia SP Concept, or Tusker, will be similar in size and scale to the Hyundai Creta. It is a Hyundai sibling after all.
Kia claims that with this design it targets the millennial generation buyers who want a robust and sporty SUV with a wide range of advanced features. The Kia mid-SUV will be manufactured in India at their new facility in Andhra Pradesh and will be sold globally. The car will be designed and customized to suit the taste of the Indian buyer.
The mid-size SUV will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, MG Hector, Nissan Kicks and Tata Harrier.
