Kia reveals EV3 electric SUV with 600 Km range

Kia has revealed the new EV3 electric SUV which is scheduled to be introduced first in Korea in July 2024. The compact EV SUV brings the innovative technology of the EV9 in an accessible package. The brand also reveals that the Kia EV3 will come with a range of 600 km on a single charge and the capability to charge the electric car in just 31 minutes. In addition to this, the Kia EV3 will be packed to the bring with features including an AI Assistant, Premium Streaming, advanced driving assistance systems and more. The Kia EV3 comes with futuristic exteriors and practical interiors as well.

Kia EV3 – Exterior Design

The Kia EV3 comes with the brand’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy. The electric SUV features vertical headlamps positioned on the edge of the car offering a clean fascia. This also gives the EV3 a muscular look from the front. The electric car also gets vertical DRLs and Kia Tiger Face design. The car gets a long, sloping, sleek roofline and a hatchback-style tailgate. When viewed from the rear, the Kia EV3 features a geometric tail lamp design that integrates well with the rear windscreen. The tailgate is wide but has a sleek appearance and the haunch draws its inspiration from the Tiger Face Star
Map. The GT-Line variant offers a more rugged and adventurous appearance and the lower bumper is sportier than standard.

Kia EV3 – Interiors and Features

On the inside, the Kia EV3 claims to come with a spacious cabin comfortable for 5 people. The highly functional cabin integrates a sliding table and storage area as well. The lower area can also store small backpacks and personal electronic items such as laptops. The electric car also comes with a 25-liter frunk and a 460-liter rear boot capacity. The EV3 also gets an adjustable two-tier luggage board.

Kia reveals that the EV3 will come with a large near-30-inch widescreen display. This includes a 12.3-inch digital cluster, a five-inch air-conditioning panel, and another 12.3-inch infotainment display. The large display integrates the touch operation of the climate control functionality and features clear graphics as well as intuitive information to the
driver.

In addition to this, the screen also extends to the central part of the dashboard, offering the front-seat passenger access to entertainment and navigation features. The interiors are also made using PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) which is an easily recyclable plastic as well as recycled fabric is applied to the dashboard and door trims. PET is also extensively used on the seats, headliner, door armrests, garnish, floor mats, and luggage board.

Kia EV3 – Powertrain

Powering the EV3 will be a 150kW/283Nm electric motor. The electric motor is matched to a 58.3kWh battery on the standard variant and 81.4kWh battery on the long range variant. The EV3 also claims to accelerate from 0-100km/h
in just 7.5 seconds and achieves a maximum speed of 170km/h. The EV3 also gets state-of-the-art Battery Management Unit (BMU) and Cell Monitoring Unit (CMU) technology, reveals Kia. The Long Range variant of the Kia EV3 also claims a WLTP range of 600 km on a single charge and 10-80% state-of-charge can be achieved in 31 minutes.

Kia EV3 – Launch Timeline

Kia will be introducing the EV3 in July 2024 in the Korean market followed by its launch in Europe in the second half of the year. Th brand also plans to further expand sales of the EV3 into other regions, however, it has not yet revealed if or when the electric SUV will come to India.
