Kia recalls Carens for instrument cluster software update

Written by AnantaSaranNayak

Kia India has announced a recall for the Carens MPV. This is due to a potential issue with its digital instrument cluster. The recall affects over 30,297 units of the Carens MPV. These models are from the batch between September 2022 and March 2023. The problem involves the instrument cluster not booting up properly and going blank. Thus, Kia will contact the owners of the affected vehicles. Then they will bring them in for inspection and, if necessary, a software update.

Interestingly enough, this is the second recall for the Carens MPV within a year. The previous recall took place in October 2022. That was related to an airbag control unit issue and was resolved through a software update. Prior to that, Kia had recalls for the Kia Seltos diesel in October 2019 and March 2020. This was related to a fuel pump problem.

Kia Carens Range And Variants

The Kia Carens is available in different variants. The prices range from INR 10.45 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base 1.5-litre petrol manual variant to INR 18.90 lakh (ex-showroom) for the fully loaded turbo-diesel and turbo-petrol variants. It comes as a 6- or 7-seater option. As it stands, Carens has a waiting period of approximately 10 months, depending on the chosen trim.

SUVs’ Demand Is On The Rise

SUVs have now become a very popular choice amongst customers. With that in place, even the three-row SUVs are in much. Carens is more of an MPV, but it does fulfil the criteria of three rows of seats. Since its launch, Carens has been selling in good numbers. With SUVs’ demand on the rise, no wonder Kia is pushing regular updates of its SUV range. We are not pretty certain that Kia is working on an update on the Kia Seltos. Once launched, the SUV will come with a slew of refreshed updates and features, all ready to take on the SUV battle.
