Kia India officially brings in intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) in all the new RDE editions of diesel and turbo petrol variants. With this update, the diesel variants of Sonet, Seltos, and Carens with the iMT technology now retail from INR 9.95 lakhs, INR 12.39 lakhs, and INR 12.65 lakhs, ex-showroom respectively. Kia India had previously added the iMT in the petrol variants of the Sonet and Seltos. With the introduction of 2023 Kia will aim to attract more customers to its showrooms.

Customers Reacting Positively With The iMT Gearbox Innovation

As per Kia, about 20 per cent of Seltos sales and 33 per cent of Sonet sales in 2022 were iMT editions. Given the growing demand for automatics. The iMT is a perfect way out, giving the best of both worlds. The convenience of an automatic and the feel of having more control with the gear stick. India’s current traffic woes have further pushed more buyers towards automatic variants. With the iMT, Kia claims it as one such clutchless manual that eases driving in traffic conditions.

Kia India Pushing For More iMT Sales

All manual transmission diesel versions of Kia will now come with 6iMT versions. And this is now a standard fitment in its refreshed RDE-compliant portfolio. Kia further mentioned that the 2023 editions of the Seltos, Sonet, and Carens are available from April 1, 2023. With the iMTs coming in, Kia will push more customers towards this gearbox option.

Other than that, Kia has always been a forerunner in technology and innovation aspect. And iMT is one such innovation that matches perfectly with Indian driving conditions. And this is also one of the main reasons, why customers are loving these setups. Furthermore, Kia also claims better fuel efficiency with the iMT, making it even more lucrative for Indian customers.
