Korean automotive manufacturer Kia has announced that it has sold a total of 5 lakh units from its Anantapur plant. Located in Andhra Pradesh, the automaker has sold 4 lakh vehicles across India and exported 1 lakh vehicles to 91+ countries. Since 2019, the automaker has successfully achieved this milestone after it first introduced the Seltos SUV for the Indian market. With this achievement, Kia India has become the top UV exporter by recording a market share of over 25% in 2021.
For the Indian market, Kia currently offers 4 vehicles, namely the Seltos, Sonet, Carnival, and the recently launched Carens MPV. The Seltos quickly became the brand’s best-selling SUV in India for almost 2 years post its introduction in 2019. Kia then launched the Sonet sub-compact SUV in September 2020, which also achieved great success and garnered great customer satisfaction. During the same timeframe, the automaker also introduced the Carnival three-row MPV to tackle the likes of the Innova Crysta.
Kia ensured to constantly update all three of its previously launched vehicles throughout 2021 with new features and a new logo. Kia India states that it has focussed its efforts on offering great value to its customers via its products. Additionally, the automaker has generated a customer base of around 4 lakh Indian families, thanks to its groundbreaking services. To expand this growth and success, the automaker launched the new Carens three-row MPV in India on 15th February 2022.
Back in 2017, Kia India signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the State Government of Andhra Pradesh in India. This allowed Kia to build the manufacturing facility at Anantapur District, which began its mass production in August 2019. With an annual production capacity of 3,00,000 units, the automaker then decided to reimagine itself in April 2021.
The automaker unveiled its new “Movement that Inspires” philosophy that aimed at offering customers meaningful experiences via products and services. Kia India, in turn, became the quickest brand to achieve the 3,50,000 sales milestone in the domestic market. It has also managed to become one of the leaders in offering connected car technologies throughout its vehicles in India. The brand currently has over 1.75 lakh connected cars on Indian roads with over 300 customers touchpoints and dealerships.
