Kia has rolled out 1 Million cars in India

Kia India has reached a new production milestone. The Korean carmaker has rolled off the 1 millionth car from its production facility at Anantapur. This feat has made Kia the youngest as well as the fastest brand to reach this number. Furthermore, the 1 millionth unit was none other than the new Kia Seltos.

Kia’s Journey in India

Back in 2019, Kia commenced Indian operations with the Seltos. The company sold over 5,00,000 units in just 46 months since the production started. In the Kia portfolio, of the 10,00,000 total sales, the Seltos is a majority sales driver with over 50 percent contribution with a total of 5,32,450 units.

Currently, Kia India is selling the Sonet, Carens, Seltos, Carnival and the EV6. The Carnival however is soon expected to receive an update. As per the data, Kia has manufactured 3,32,450 units of the Sonet, 1,20,516 units of the Carens and 14,584 units of the Carnival.

As of date, the Anantapur factory is currently running at 95-100 percent. Hence, to meet the demands of the consumers, the production facility is currently being upgraded. By mid-2024, the same facility will be capable of producing 4.3 lakh units.

2023 Kia Seltos : More Details

The Seltos facelift gets an updated bumper, new fog lamp inserts and new design headlamps. The lights are now all-LED units with integrated LED DRLs that extend into the grille. The Korean carmaker now offers larger 18-inch alloys, finished in a dual tone design on the 2023 Seltos. These wheels are the same ones offered internationally. The rear too has been revamped for the facelift. The 2023 Seltos now comes with sequential turn signals, dual tip exhaust and a lightbar that connects both the tail lamps.The bumper design too has been changed and now houses the reversing lamp.

The updated Kia Seltos include three engine options. There is a 1.5-litre NA petrol good for 115 HP and 144 Nm, a 1.5-litre turbo petrol rated at 160 HP and 253 Nm and a 1.5-litre diesel good for 115 HP / 250 Nm. These engines are offered with multiple transmission options including a CVT, 6-speed IMT, 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic.
