Kia exports from India surpass 2,50,000 milestone

Kia has announced that the company has achieved the milestone of exporting more than 250,000 vehicles from India. Kia revealed that the company exported 255,133 units to more than 100 international markets from the brand’s Anantapur manufacturing facility since 2019. In addition to this, Kia also revealed that the major contributor in exports is the Kia Seltos.

The Seltos SUV accounts for more than 149,952 units emerging as the highest exported SUV. This also translates to more than 59% of the company’s overall overseas dispatches. Furthermore, the Sonet SUV contributes about 34% of the export share and the Carens comes third with 7% of share in the overall overseas dispatches.

Kia Corporation is using India as the export hub and also in recent years, Kia has focused more on selling its cars in the domestic markets. Now the brand is also going to make 90% of products for India from this year, revealed Kia. Currently, Kia exports its Made in India products to over 100 international markets. These include South Africa, Chile, Paraguay and Latin America.

The company’s Anantapur production facility commenced manufacturing of Kia cars 5 years ago and has become a key export hub within the brand’s global network. The advanced production plant also claims to adhere to the highest standards and produces products with the highest quality enabling Kia to meet the worldwide demand for its cars.

Kia signed an MoU with the Government of Andhra Pradesh back in April 2017 to build the Anantapur manufacturing facility. In August 2019, the company commenced mass production of Kia cars in India with an installed annual capacity of 300,000 units. The brand has launched 5 vehicles in the Indian market which includes the popular Seltos, Sonet, Carens, Carnival and EV6. The Anantapur production facility has rolled out more than 1.2-million vehicles till date with more than 980,000 units in domestic sales and over 250,000 units in exports.
