Kia Motors is all set to launch their all-new and first-ever SUV in the Indian market. The first car from Kia Motors for India will be called the Seltos. This data leaked in a few spyshots, mostly from the product commercial shoot a week back, and it only makes sense for Kia to make this official to end speculations about the name of their much anticipated SUV which will rival the likes of Hyundai Creta, Nissan, Kicks, Tata Harrier, Renault Captur, Mahindra XUV500 and the likes.
Kia first revealed this car in concept guise at the Auto Expo 2018 and was dubbed as the SP2i Concept. The Kia Seltos, the final name of the car is inspired by Greek mythology where the legen of ‘Celtos’ means the son of Hercules. However, the car is called ‘Seltos’ with the letter S standing for Speed, Sportiness and Strength, as per Kia.
From spyshots alone, the SUV market in India is surely excited about the Seltos. The SUV looks far more premium and modern compared to any of its rivals, and is surely tastefully done. It needs to be noted that Kia completed this car from concept to production in record time by starting trial production at their plant in Andhra Pradesh, India.
The Kia Seltos will be a mid-size SUV, and prices are expected to start from nearly INR 9 lakh all the way up to INR 17-18 lakh for the top trims.
What was very interesting to note from the spyshots was that the Kia Seltos sported a 4WD badge on the bootlid. This car is making a world premiere in India, in the coming weeks. Also, it will be built here and exported worldwide. So it makes sense that the 4WD version will also be sold in India, and this will not be a road-only SUV, which makes it more of a regular car than an SUV, which its competitors actually are (except for the Mahindra XUV500).
The Kia Seltos will come loaded with features like LED headlamps, LED fog lamps, LED tail lamps, large dual tone alloy wheels, spoiler, sunroof, leather upholstery, wireless charging, touchscreen infotainment with premium audio system, climate control, automatic headlamp and wipers, adaptive cruise control, coloured MID, automatic gearbox options and more as per 2019 standards.
The Kia Seltos will be launched close to the festive season of 2019. So expect deliveries by October – November 2019.
