Kia India recently commenced booking for the highly-anticipated EV6 in India. Kia India’s first all-electric offering will only come in a sole GT-Line trim. However, this means it will come with all the features one can ask for. The EV6 is important for Kia as it marks its entry into the Indian EV space. Kia says it is confident that customers will appreciate one of Kia’s finest offerings.
Customers interested in the car can book the electric vehicle by paying an amount of INR 3 lakh. Kia will only bring 100 units of the EV6 to India in 2022. The bookings will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. The model will be available in 15 select dealerships across 12 cities in the country. The Kia EV6 will also be available for online bookings via the Kia India website.
The car will come to India as a Completely Built (CBU) unit. According to sources, the car will launch in the first week of June. The latest reports suggest that the deliveries for the AWD variants start in September 2022. At the same time, deliveries for the two-wheel-drive model will begin in December 2022.
However, if a customer wants to cancel the booking, Kia will charge a cancellation fee of INR 50,000. Additionally, Kia will also charge processing fee/convenience charges as per actuals. However, these will be in case of a cancellation only. Post the booking, a customer is also not allowed to make a modification in the name or vehicle colour or trim. We believe this is because the cars will retail directly from the factory since they do not require homologation in India.
The new all-electric EV6 follows Kia’s ‘Opposite United’ design philosophy. The EV6’s design draws inspiration from the contrasts one can find in nature and humanity. The front of the car gets Dual LED headlights. These also feature an Adaptive Driving Beam. At the rear, you see a connected LED taillight and sequential turn signal indicators. On the sides, the EV6 features flush auto door handles and a set of 19-inch Crystal-Cut alloy wheels. India will get six colour options to choose from – Runway Red, Yacht Blue, Moonscape, Snow White Pearl and Aurora Black.
As for the powertrain, it will come in a 2WD and AWD setup. The Indian market will get the 77.4 kWh li-ion battery pack. In the 2WD guise, it produces 229 PS and 350 Nm. At the same time, in the case of AWD, with its dual-motor setup, it makes 325 PS and 605 Nm. The dual-motor AWD model sees the EV6 hit from 0 to 100kmph in 5.2 seconds. The Kia EV6 will also offer a claimed range of up to 528 km on a single charge as per the WLTP cycle.
