Kia cars getting expensive from April 2024

Written by News Team

Kia India has announced a price hike of up to three percent across its model range from April 2024. This is the first price increase levied by the brand this year.

Reason for the hike

The company attributes the price increase to the escalation in commodity prices and supply-chain-related inputs. The new ex-showroom prices of all the models in the automaker’s lineup comprising the Seltos, Sonet, and Carens are expected to be revealed in the first week of April.

Kia India Sales Figures

In terms of sales, Kia has sold close to 1.16 million cumulative units. The mid-size SUV Seltos has surpassed 6.13 lakh unit sales, followed by Sonet with over 3.95 lakh units and the Carens MPV with sales of 1.59 lakh units.

Recent Developments

Notably, Kia recalled 4,358 units of the petrol-CVT Seltos last month to fix a potential error in the electronic oil pump controller. Besides this, Kia is also working on the facelifted Carnival that is expected to be launched in the coming months.

Current Kia Offerings and their Prices

The current ex-showroom prices of Kia cars are as follows:

Kia Sonet: Rs. 7.99 Lakh onwards
Kia Seltos: Rs. 10.90 Lakh onwards
Kia Carens: Rs. 10.45 Lakh onwards

Future Plans

In the near future, Kia plans to launch its flagship electric SUV, the Kia EV9, and introduce a new generation of the Kia Carnival in India.

The price hike will be effective on all models except the EV6 which is not a mass-market model2. Since the Kia Sonet received a midlife update in January 2024, its introductory prices will come to an end in April 2024.
