Kia has made the decision to discontinue the Carnival MPV in India. It has removed the model from its official website. Confirmation of this news was obtained through discussions with dealers. They revealed that fresh orders for the Carnival had stopped being accepted in April. This was due to the implementation of the BS6 Phase 2 emission norms. Only a limited number of unsold units remained available at select outlets. The Carnival was locally assembled in India using CKD (Completely Knocked Down) kits.
The fourth-generation Carnival was showcased as the KA4 MPV at the Auto Expo earlier this year. It will not carry the Carnival name in India to avoid confusion with the third-generation model. The global launch of the fourth-generation Carnival took place in June 2020. Thus it has been around for approximately three years. Kia is already working on a mid-lifecycle update for this model. We expected to see the model by early 2024. This refreshed version of the fourth-generation Carnival will arrive in India. Thus, aligning the Indian market with the global product lifecycle.
Fourth-Generation Carnival Spied
Spy shots of the facelifted fourth-generation Carnival are already out. The upcoming model boasts larger dimensions and more luxurious features. It might also receive a new petrol-hybrid powertrain in international markets. Although it remains uncertain which features will come with the India-spec model. However, it is anticipated that the updated Carnival will come with a higher price tag.
