Kia Carens sales cross 1.5 lakh domestic sales milestone, was launched in February 2022

Kia has announced that the brand has sold more than 1.5 lakh units of the Carens MPV in the Indian market. The brand has achieved this milestone in just 27 months of its launch in India. The Kia Carens was introduced to the Indian market in February 2022, stirring up the family mover segment in India. And no wonder, new age customers with extended families choose Carens, thanks to its sleek and futuristic design and cutting edge features.

Kia Carens – Domestic Sales

Kia reveals that the Carens offers features such as ventilated seats, sunroof and multi drive modes. These features are highly sought after in the Indian market and less seen on MPVs. Thanks to this, Kia reports that around 50% of the customers prefer the top and mid trims of the Carens which comes with the aforementioned features.

Kia also reveals that 57% of the demand for the MPV is for its petrol powertrain variant. The diesel engine variant accounts for the remaining 43%. Furthermore, 62% of the customers prefer manual transmission variant over the automatic option. In addition to this, Kia also revealed that the brand had relaunched the 6-seater variant of the Carens in April 2024 which has shown a good response.

Kia Carens – Exports

In addition to the domestic market, Kia also exports the Carens with close to 17,000 units contributing to Kia’s global operations. This also accounts for 15% of the company’s total domestic wholesale. The brand also claims that the Carens is one of the best-selling family movers in its segment.

Kia Carens – Maintenance

A recent study also revealed that the Kia Carens has the most economical maintenance cost for both petrol and diesel variants. The maintenance cost of the Kia Carens is lower than 21% of the petrol vehicles in its segment. Even in its diesel avatar, the Carens has a 26% lower maintenance in its segment compared to competition.
