Kia has hiked the prices of the Carens by up to INR 50,000. This will be effective from November 1, 2022. With this price hike, the Prestige 1.5L petrol variant commands the highest price rise of INR 50,000. Meanwhile, the Premium 1.5L petrol variant’s price has increased by INR 40,000. The Luxury 1.4L Turbo-Petrol variant now costs INR 15,000 more. Kia has also revised the prices of the diesel variants by up to INR 30,000. The Luxury 1.5L Diesel trim of the Carens now retails at a premium of INR 35,000 more. Interestingly, Kia had increased the prices of the Carens in April this year. Ever since then, prices have gone up by up to INR 70,000.
The Carens is available in a total of five variants – Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury, and Luxury Plus. The 7-seater MPV gets three engine options:
Transmission options include a 6-speed manual, 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, and a 6-speed torque converter automatic to choose from.
Given the popularity of 7-seater SUVs in the market, Carens is in great demand. Priced relatively at a much more affordable range, Carens is becoming increasingly popular. Kia understands the Indian market pretty well, and thus a 7-seater product makes a lot of sense. In its long list of rivals, Carens faces a direct faceoff against its own sibling Hyundai Alcazar. Then we have the likes of Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, and Toyota Innova. Given the wide price range of the Carens, the lower-priced models go against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and XL6.
