Kia is planning to launch a new MPV in the Indian market which was codenamed ‘KY’. However recently, Kia filed patents for the Carens moniker in the Indian market, which is likely to be the name of the new three-row MPV. We recently reported the spy images of the Kia Carens. However, the images were completely camouflaged and we only saw glimpses of the exteriors of the car. There was market speculation that the Kia Carens will come with interiors similar to the Kia Seltos. But new spy shots reveal that the Carens will come with different interiors than the Seltos.
According to spy shots, the Kia Carens will come with a unique dashboard layout much bigger than the Seltos. The dashboard of the Carens extends well into the dashboard and the MPV features a cab-forward design. The new dashboard layout will maximise the interior space on the Carens optimising space for both passengers and luggage.
Spyshots reveal that the new Carens will come with a central infotainment display which is likely to come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. The Carens will also feature a full-digital infotainment system and multifunctional steering wheel. The car also features HVAC controls on the centre console positioned below the touchscreen infotainment system. The brand is also likely to offer, a multizone climate control system and is likely to come with air-conditioning vents in all rows. The MPV is also likely to come with soft touch materials on the dashboard, cup holders and a USB ports. Higher-spec models are also likely to come with a sunroof.
Powering the Carens is likely to be 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. The engine are likely to be borrowed from the Kia Seltos along with the multiple gearbox options that the brand offers on the Seltos SUV in the Indian market.
Kia is likely to introduce the Carens SUV on 16th December 2021. The brand is likely to launch the MPV in the Indian market by February 2022. The Kia Carens is expected to compete with the Hyundai Alcazar, Maruti Suzuki XL6 and the likes.
