The Kia Carens has been one of the premium MPVs on sale in India. It has been a go to choice for people looking for a 6/7 seater vehicle with premium features. It has been a while since the car got an update. According to industry insiders, the refreshed model is set to enter production in May 2025, bringing a host of updates and new features to the table.
The upcoming Kia Carens facelift is expected to sport significant cosmetic changes, both at the front and rear. Spy shots and digital renderings suggest a more modern and aggressive look, with redesigned LED headlights and a connecting LED light strip that enhances the vehicle’s visual appeal. The front bumper is also set to receive a more pronounced and aggressive design, aligning with Kia’s latest design language.
On the sides, the Carens will retain its sharp body lines and long rear doors, but with newly designed alloy wheels that add a touch of sophistication. The rear of the vehicle will feature connected LED taillights, reminiscent of the updated Kia Sonet, and a new silver skid plate for a more rugged appearance.
Inside, the facelifted Carens is expected to offer a refreshed dashboard layout, possibly borrowing elements from the Kia Seltos. New features may include a 360-degree camera and an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite, which would be a segment-first offering. The interior will likely see updates in seat upholstery and a redesigned AC panel, enhancing both comfort and aesthetics.
The Kia Carens facelift will continue to offer the existing engine options: a 115hp, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 160hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, and a 116hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine. These will be available with both manual and automatic transmission options.
In a significant development, Kia is also set to introduce an all-electric variant of the Carens. This new EV powertrain will position the Carens as a direct competitor to the likes of the BYD eMax 7, expanding its appeal to environmentally conscious consumers.
The Kia Carens has been a strong contender in the MPV segment since its launch in early 2022. With the facelift, Kia aims to strengthen its market position against rivals such as the Toyota Rumion and Maruti Ertiga. The facelifted Carens, including the new EV variant, will be produced at Kia’s manufacturing facility, with an initial production run of around 2,000 units per month.
