Kia Carens receives an overwhelming response in terms of demand. Kia mentioned that the bookings for Carens have crossed 50,000 as of today. This is quite a remarkable feat for the South Korean carmaker. In just 2 months since the opening up of booking, Kia has managed this extraordinary figure.
Noteworthy to mention Kia claims that 42 per cent of the bookings came from Tier 3 and beyond cities. This is exactly what Kia was looking for in the Carens, and the business plan seems to be working perfectly. The Luxury and Luxury Plus variant has been a popular choice for the customers. Kia mentioned that their booking contribution stands at 43 per cent. The demand for petrol and diesel variant is almost the same, thus making up 50 per cent for each.
The automatic gearbox option is getting popular in India. This is evident in the booking figure for Carens as well. Kia claims that automatic trims contributed to almost 30 per cent of the bookings. Carens is already off the mark, with 5,300 units sold in February 2022. This figure is just for 13 days of the month. Moreover, the sporadic supply of semiconductors has its own share of limitation associated with it. For March 2022, we can expect Kia Carens to breach the 10k sales mark, which would be a giant leap forward for the carmaker.
Given the rising demand, Kia has announced the start of the third shift at its Anantapur manufacturing facility. With three top-selling models in its portfolio, Kia is also set to take on the competitive Indian automotive market. Seltos and Sonet are already selling in huge numbers. And with Carens without a direct rival from Hyundai, it will most likely sell more than both the SUVs. This could a big role in rejuvenating the budget three-row SUV segment, also known as MPV, but Kia likes to call Carens a recreational vehicle.
