Kia India has announced a significant milestone for its popular MPV, the Kia Carens. The vehicle has surpassed 200,000-unit sales within just three years of its launch in February 2022. This achievement underscores the Carens’ popularity among Indian families seeking a spacious, feature-rich, and versatile vehicle.

The Kia Carens has been a standout in its segment, offering a blend of practicality and premium features. The 7-seater variant has been the most popular, accounting for 95% of total sales. Buyers have also shown a strong preference for petrol variants, which make up 58% of the sales, while diesel variants contribute 42%. Additionally, 32% of customers opted for automatic and iMT (clutchless manual) transmissions, highlighting the growing demand for convenience-oriented options.

Versatile engine options

The Carens is available with three engine choices: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. These options cater to a wide range of customer preferences, balancing performance and efficiency. The MPV also offers multiple transmission options, including a 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT, 7-speed DCT, and 6-speed automatic.

In terms of features, the Carens comes equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Kia Connect, ventilated seats, multi-drive modes, and ambient lighting. Safety is a priority, with six airbags as standard, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, and ISOFIX child seat anchors. The MPV’s spacious interiors and advanced features have made it a preferred choice for families.

Global success

Beyond domestic success, the Kia Carens has also gained international recognition. Kia has exported over 24,000 units to more than 70 countries, showcasing the vehicle’s global appeal. The consistent monthly sales figures further highlight its enduring popularity among Indian consumers.
