The Versys 1100 is essentially an update of the Versys 1000. While its design looks identical to the outgoing model, the major change in it is the new 1,100cc inline-four liquid-cooled engine. This engine is a reworked unit of the previous 1,000cc powertrain.
As per the company, the new engine features a longer stroke, higher compression ratio, revised gear ratios, a heavier flywheel, long intake funnels for the air intake box, new camshafts, and slim intake ports.
These new components have increased the power output to 133 bhp, as opposed to the old engine’s 118 bhp. The maximum torque of the 1,100cc engine stands at 112.5 Nm and it is mated to a 6-speed transmission with a slipper-assist clutch.
In terms of features, the new Versys 1100 gets dual-pod LED headlights, LED taillight and indicators, a TFT console with Bluetooth connectivity, navigation support, SMS/call alerts, a USB charging port, and more.
Meanwhile, the hardware on the new model is also shared with the outgoing model. But, it features bigger front disc brakes now. Moreover, it is available with a black colour option only. Kawasaki might add newer colours in the coming months.
The primary competition of the Versys 1100 in India is going to be with the Harley-Davidson Pan America. The bike is now available for bookings while the official deliveries are set to commence in a few days.
