Kawasaki has launched the new Z900RS SE in the United Kingdom, which has got retro enthusiasts drooling over it. The brand also announced that the production of the Z900RS SE will be limited only to the UK, and the motorcycle will come in a unique, Metallic Diablo Black colour option. Kawasaki will start retailing the Z900RS SE from January/February 2022. The bike will come with a price tag of GBP 12,499 MSRP (Inclusive of 20% VAT).
The Special Edition model comes with a special colour and graphics. The retro motorcycle features a Metallic Diablo Black colour theme, drawing inspiration from Kawasaki’s legendary motorcycle’s. The colour theme on the 2022 Kawasaki Z900RS SE is reminiscent of the ‘Yellow Ball’ colour theme. The Yellow Ball theme is a black and yellow version of the orange and brown ‘Fireball’ theme from the original Kawasaki Z1.
The Yellow Ball/Metallic Diablo Black colour theme features a gloss black base with yellow graphics on the tank and tail cowl. The theme also features classic pinstripe details on the tank as well as the rear cowling. In addition to this, the bike also comes with gold alloy wheels and front fork stanchions, while the rear monoshock spring comes with a yellow finish. The motorcycle also comes with a black finish on the engine, a machine finish on the cylinder head, and a chrome finish on the exhaust.
Powering the Kawasaki Z900RS SE is a 948cc four-stroke in-line four-cylinder engine. The engine comes with 16 Valve DOHC valvetrain and a wet sump forced lubrication system. The motor also features 36mm x 4 throttle bodies with an electronic fuel injection system and four sub throttle fuel systems. This helps produce 111 PS of power and 98.5 Nm of torque. The engine comes paired to a 6-speed gearbox with an Assist and Slipper clutch.
The Kawasaki Z900RS SE comes with a high tensile steel trellis chassis. The bike rides on 41 mm inverted forks with compression, rebound damping and spring preload adjustability. The rear comes with an Ohlins monoshock unit, and both suspensions come with a tuning that offers the spirited riding dynamics of the iconic Z1 from the 1970s. Stopping power comes from dual semi-floating 300 mm discs on the front and a single 250mm disc on the rear.
The Modern-Classic Kawasaki Z900RS SE comes with features such as Brembo Monobloc callipers and a supple Ohlins suspension. The bike also features KTRC (Kawasaki TRaction Control) with two modes that help the rider negotiate slippery conditions ease. Riders also have the option to turn off the traction control system and assume full control of the motorcycle. The brand has also tuned the exhaust to improve its aural performance.
