With the launch of the 2022 Versys 650 in the Indian market, Kawasaki has officially announced the optional accessories. To enhance the overall protection of the motorcycle, customers can choose to add accessories like an engine slider, tank pad, and screen protector. Furthermore, to improve the comfort levels, Kawasaki also offers heated grips, handguards, and a comfort gel seat. Customers can also get a larger windscreen in both clear and smoke finish. The option of having luggage solutions like a 47-litre top case and two 28-litre panniers will also help with the long-distance tourers. Other optional accessories include a USB outlet, 12V socket, and LED fog lamp kit. Currently, the prices for the accessories mentioned above are yet to come.
Aligning itself with the other Versys models, the 2022 model gets the Versys 1000-inspired fairing and a new windshield. There are subtle design changes that include new LED headlights, a new four-way adjustable windscreen and new graphics. The motorcycle will arrive in two colours, Lime Green and Metallic Phantom Silver.
Mechanically, the 2022 Versys 650 is pretty much identical. The motorcycle continues to 649cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine. There is also no difference in the power and torque figures. Thus, it makes the same 67 PS of power and 61 Nm of torque. The suspension setup also remains the same, which comprises an adjustable Showa fork up front and a preload-adjustable KYB mono-shock at the rear. Dual 300mm front discs and a 220mm disc at the rear make up the braking setup.
The new Versys 650 comes with a sticker price of INR 7.36 lakh ex-showroom. Thus, the price increase over the older model is around 30k. The Versys 650 goes head to head with the other 650cc offerings. This includes the likes of Suzuki V-Strom 650XT (Rs 8.85 lakh) and Triumph Tiger Sport 660 (from Rs 8.95 lakh).
