Kawasaki has launched the 2024 KLX140R F motorcycle in the Indian market with a price tag of INR 4.11 lakh ex-showroom. The Kawasaki KLX series is dedicated to off-road motorcycles and includes bikes ranging from 110cc to 450cc. The brand’s KLX series motorcycle allows Indian off-road riders to sharpen and polish their skills for dirt and rally events. However it is important to note that some of the KLX series motorcycles in India, may not be road legal.
What does KLX stand for in Kawasaki?
KLX stands for Kawasaki Light Cross(X). And no wonder, the 2024 Kawasaki KLX 140R F comes with a kerb weight of just 99 kgs. The ‘F’ suffix in the KLX140R F moniker stands for Full-Size. Which means, the model comes with 21-inch front and 18-inch spoke wheels shod in off-road tyres. To put things into perspective, the KLX140R L which is a trails bike comes with 19-inch front and 16-inch rear wheels.
Kawasaki KLX140R F – Technical Specifications
Powering the KLX140R F is a 144cc single cylinder 2-valve SOHC air cooled engine. The engine features a 58.0 mm bore and 54.4 mm stroke and has a 9.5:1 compression ratio. The motorcycle comes with a KEIHIN PB20 carburetor and DC-CDI ignition. The oversquared engine produces 11 PS of power and 12 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed gearbox. The motorcycle also comes with an electric starter.
The KLX140R F features a semi-double cradle lightweight box-section perimeter frame. The chassis is made from high-tensile steel offering both rigidity and strength. The narrow frame also helps the rider grip the motorcycle as well. The motorcycle also gets 315 mm of ground clearance and a commanding 860mm of saddle height. In addition to this, the front suspension offers 190mm of wheel travel while the rear suspension offers 200mm of wheel travel. Kawasaki also offers the KLX140R F with disc brakes on both ends.
