Kawasaki bringing back Versys X 300 ADV in India?

Written by News Team

The Kawasaki Versys X 300 has been one of the popular entry-level adventure motorcycles from the Kawasaki stable. The motorcycle has not been on sale for a while now. However, the bike has been spotted testing on the streets of Pune. This sighting has sparked speculation about Kawasaki’s plans to reintroduce the Versys X 300 ADV in the Indian market.

Versys X 300 – What to Expect?

The Versys X 300 is a typical adventure tourer, featuring a distinct fairing with a single-pod headlamp and a tall windscreen. The bike has a single-piece stepped seat and raised handlebars, suggesting a comfortable setup for long rides. The Versys X 300 is expected to be powered by a 296 cc, parallel-twin engine shared with the Ninja 300. In the Ninja, this motor is tuned to produce 39 BHP and 26.1 Nm and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.

The Versys X 300 is likely to get a bespoke tune suited for off-road and adventure riding. The brake setup will consist of disc brakes at both ends, supported by dual-channel ABS. The front suspension consists of conventional telescopic forks, while a mono-shock handles the rear.

The Versys X 300 will compete with the KTM 390 Adventure and BMW G 310 GS, among others. If priced under ₹4 lakh (ex-showroom), the Kawasaki Versys X 300 could create a nice middle ground between the Himalayan 450 and Honda NX 500. The demand for motorcycles in the adventure segment has been growing steadily. Moreover, customers are choosing lower-capacity bikes over the more expensive 500 cc+ motorcycles. This gives the Versys X 300 a good platform provided it is priced well.
