Jorge Martin is MotoGP’s 1st Independent World Champion!

In a historic moment for MotoGP, Jorge Martin of Prima Pramac Ducati has been crowned the 2024 MotoGP World Champion, becoming the first independent rider to achieve this feat in the modern era. Martin secured the title at the season finale, the Motul Solidarity Grand Prix in Barcelona, despite finishing third in the race.

Martin’s 2024 Season

The 2024 season was a thrilling one, with Martin showcasing remarkable consistency and resilience. He finished on the podium in 32 out of 40 races, including 12 victories. His main rival, Francesco Bagnaia of the Factory Ducati team, won the final race but couldn’t overcome Martin’s lead.

Martin’s journey to the championship was marked by strategic riding and a calm demeanor under pressure. He entered the final race with a 19-point lead over Bagnaia and needed only a top-9 finish to clinch the title. His third-place finish was enough to secure the championship by a margin of 10 points.
