Jeep Grand Cherokee discontinued in India

Jeep India has updated its official website and removed the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Jeep Grand Cherokee was first launched in 2016 in the Indian market and was brought to the country as a completely built-up unit (CBU). At present, the Jeep India website now lists the Jeep Compass, Jeep Compass Night Eagle, Jeep Compass Trailhawk and the All-New Wrangler.

When the Grand Cherokee was offered in the Indian market, it was offered in three trims – Limited, Summit, and the SRT. The Limited trim was powered by a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine that produced 243 PS of power and 570 Nm of torque. The Summit trim came with a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 petrol engine producing 290 PS of power and 347 Nm of torque. The SRT trim was powered by the 6.4-litre Hemi V8 petrol engine that made 477 PS of power and 624 Nm of torque.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is expected to be in its next-generation avatar in 2021, in the petrol, diesel and electrified hybrid powertrain options. FCA has unveiled the brand’s first electrified powertrains in the form of a new plug-in hybrid engine available on the new Jeep Renegade 4xe (Pronounced 4 by E) and the Jeep Compass 4xe in the European market.

Both models are powered by a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine with an electric motor located between the rear wheels, which is powered by an 11.4 kWh battery and comes with a 100% full-electric range of 50 km along with zero tailpipe emissions.

Recently, FCA also revealed the New Jeep Wrangler 4xe that strengthens the brand’s Global Electric Vehicle Lineup. The Jeep Wrangler 4xe is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four-cylinder engine with two electric motors, powered by a 400-volt, 17-kWh, 96-cell lithium-ion, nickel manganese cobalt battery pack producing a total output of 375 Hp of power and 637 Nm of torque matched to a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission.
