Jeep has announced that the Jeep Compass Trailhawk has become the first Indian SUV to cross the Great Indian Desert in one go. The expedition showcases the Compass Trailhawk’s ruggedness and ability to navigate across the difficult desert terrain. Jeep also reveals that the new Compass Trailhawk has achieved this feat without touching any tarmac. This shows that the ‘Trail Rated’ SUV is capable of accomplishing the feat exhibiting its desert rig, off-road capabilities and reliability to endure long and arduous journeys.
Jeep revealed that the Jeep Compass Trailhawk traversed over 1,280-kilometers driving across Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, to Kutch, Gujarat. The three day trip in the arid desert tested the capabilities of both man and machine through harsh conditions over varied terrain and extreme weather conditions with temperatures ranging from over 40-degrees centigrade in the day to near-freezing temperatures at night. The Great Indian Desert consists of shifting sand dunes, alluvial plains as well as rocky features. The brand reveals that the first-in-segment Rock Mode feature allowed the Jeep Compass Trailhawk to effortlessly glide over the terrain.
The Jeep Compass Trailhawk travelled through Alissar, Bikaner, Dhani, Army dunes, Small Rann, Kala Dungar, Virgin Dunes, Barner, Jaisalmer, Rann of Kutch and Sandstones. The SUV also traversed through arid regions of undulating sandhills. Many unidentified and abandoned routes were also included in the journey, making it more challenging. Abhimanyu Alsisar, the heir of the royalty of Alsisar in Rajasthan, enjoyed this voyage thanks to the comfort and convenience offered by the Compass Trailhawk.
Jeep India recently launched the flagship Compass SUV, the Trailhawk, in the Indian market at the price of INR 30.72 lakh ex-showroom. The bold American SUV comes with features such as LED Projector Headlamps with LED DRLs, LED Front Cornering Fog Lamps, Rain Sensing Front Wipers, 17-inch Trailhawk alloy wheels shod in 225/65 all-season tyres etc. The car also gets a Crawl Ratio of 20:1, a Ramp Travel Index of 321, a Turning Radius of 5.7m, a Jeep Select-Terrain system. Powering the Compass Trailhawk is a 2.0-litre Multijet II diesel engine producing 170 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque paired to a 9-speed automatic gearbox.
