American SUV manufacturer Jeep has increased the price of the brand’s much popular Compass SUV in the Indian market. The Compass SUV now comes with a price of up to INR 35,000, dearer than the old ex-showroom price. Jeep has hiked ex-showroom prices of all the Compass variants by INR 35,000 except the Sport 2.0-litre Diesel trim. The Sport 2.0-litre Diesel trim comes with a price hike of INR 25,000 on the ex-showroom price.
Recently, Jeep had also announced a hike in price by INR 25,000, including the Compass model. The price hike is likely to be in line with the rising input costs and the weakening rupee compared to the US dollar. Apart from the price hike, the brand has not made any updates to the Compass SUV. The SUV remains unchanged both mechanically and cosmetically.
The brand offers the Compass in five variants – Sport, Longitude (O), Limited (O), Model S (O) and Trailhawk. Jeep offers it in both petrol and diesel powertrain options as well as manual and automatic options. In addition to this, the Jeep Compass also comes with 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrain options.
Powering the Jeep Compass is a 1.4-litre MultiAir petrol and a 2.0-litre MultiJet II diesel engine option. The 1.4-litre MultiAir petrol engine produces 163 HP of power and 250 Nm of torque. The petrol option comes with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission. However, Jeep does not offer a 4×4 driveline on the petrol option. The 2.0-litre MultiJet II diesel engine produces 170 HP of power and 350 Nm of torque. The diesel comes with a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed torque converter automatic. The engine comes with both 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrain options, with 4×4 being offered only on the automatic gearbox.
