Looks like Jeep India has silently discontinued the base model of the Compass petrol. The entry-level Sport Manual transmission option will no longer be available to buyers.
The Jeep Compass petrol was popular only for the sole reason of the automatic transmission option when launched. Initially, Jeep was offering only diesel manual option and petrol automatic or manual. Customers preferring the automatic had to opt for the petrol engine.
However, soon Jeep came out with the diesel automatic trim and buyers could now opt for the same. Infact, even 4×4 was offered in the diesel making it more popular as well.
The petrol compass is powered by a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine. It makes 163 PS of peak power and was paired with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox. Going forward, only the 7DCT will be available with this engine.
That said, Jeep has retained the Diesel manual in the Sport trim for Compass customers.
In terms of features, the Sport trim was equipped with an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, single-zone climate control, keyless entry, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Those wanting to purchase the Jeep Compass can still opt for the petrol automatic trim in the higher end, the diesel manual and automatics across the variants and the top of the line Trailhawk version with decked out off-road features. Higher variants come with a larger 10.1-inch infotainment, digital driver’s display, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, and ventilated front seats as well.
