Jeep cleans Plastic Waste along the Ladakh Himalayan Range

Written by AnantaSaranNayak

Jeep India today announces its ever-popular Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative called Mission One Earth. The main objective of this initiative is to encourage Jeep customers and the community to promote the ‘Responsible Adventure’. Jeep India took this initiative to the Ladakh Himalayan Range in an attempt to reduce plastic waste in that region. The initiative saw Jeep customers along with the local community collect 1500 kilograms of plastic waste from the roads in the area.

To encourage more customers to join in, Jeep India this time had integrated the Mission One Earth with its annual customer drive experience. As a part of this drive, Jeep customers drove tweety Jeep SUVs starting from Shimla to Srinagar. The route went through Leh and spanned over 2,000 km for this plastic reduction drive. A total of three hundred local Ladakh people also participated in this initiative.

Jeep India’s Effort To Reduce Plastic Weight

Under this initiative, Jeep India has placed digitally-enabled and specially designed ‘reverse vending’ machines. These machines set up along the high altitude passes in the Himalayas will aim to reduce the practice waste in the area. Jeep will then recycle the collected plastic waste into Jeep merchandise. This is a great move that helps in controlling plastic waste and, in turn, generates fruitful outcomes. Tourists who will feed these reverse vending machines with plastic waste will get a Jeep India coupon. These tourists can then redeem this coupon for environment-friendly Jeep merchandise.

The carmaker confirmed that these machines would remain at these tourist locations for a year. Jeep India will take full responsibility for the maintenance and operation of these machines. Going forward, Jeep India will include more such social causes under its Mission One Earth. Furthermore, Jeep India also plans to send the message of Responsible Adventure across its dealership network as well. Going further, every Jeep dealership in India will have an element of Mission One Earth. Currently, Jeep has a customer base of more than 50,000 and, with the collaboration of all, will make this Mission One Earth initiative a massive success.
