Jeep adds new Compass Sport Plus variant In India for INR 15.99 Lakh

American SUV manufacturer, Jeep has launched a new variant of the Compass, the Sport Plus, priced at INR 15.99 lakh ex-showroom, pan India for the petrol and INR 16.99 lakh ex-showroom, pan India for the diesel version. It sits above the base variant, Compass Sport, and is more expensive by INR 36,000 for the petrol and INR 38,000 for the diesel.

The Jeep Compass Sport Plus has new exterior features as compared to the base Compass Sport which includes 16-inch silver alloy wheels, black roof-rails, reverse parking sensors, black body cladding around the top of the doors & around rear windshield and a ‘Sport Plus’ badge on the tailgate as standard.

Powertrain on the Jeep Compass Sport Plus will be the same turbocharged 1.4-litre Multiair petrol which produces 163 PS of power @ 5500 RPM and 250 Nm of torque @ 2500-4000 RPM and a turbocharged 2.0-litre multijet diesel motor which produces 173 PS of power @ 3750 RPM and 350 Nm of torque @ 1750-2500 RPM mated to front wheel driven 6-speed manual gearbox. Jeep claims a mileage figure of 14.3 kmpl and 17.1 kmpl for petrol and diesel respectively (as per ARAI). This is the same engine as on its base Compass Sport variant.

Key features on the Jeep Compass Sport Plus include a dual-zone climate control, anti-lock braking system, an electronic parking brake, electronic roll mitigation, and all-wheel disc brakes. Interiors of the car features a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system but safety features such as dual front airbags, ABS, ESC and traction control stay standard as seen on the higher-spec Longitude.

Some of the features that the Jeep Compass Sport Plus misses out on are power folding rear view wing mirrors, keyless entry, 17-inch alloys, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system which are available on the Longitude variant.

It will compete with the Tata Harrier which is priced at INR 14.95 lakh to INR 16.25 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. Few months ago Jeep also launched the petrol Longitude (O) variant previously only available in a diesel engine, and is set to bring a more off-road focused diesel automatic Compass called Trailhawk in India soon.
