Well, this was the most exciting product showcased when Jawa made a comeback with Classic Legends here in India. Finally, a year after making a public debut, the Jawa Perak motorcycle has been launched in the Indian market priced at INR 1.95 lakh ex-showroom. The Jawa Perak is a bobber-style single-seater motorcycle based on the other Jawa models already on sale. It will be sold in a single dark matte paint scheme with tan seat and gold accents.
Powering the Jawa Perak is a 334cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, DOHC, SI engine with a compression ratio of 11:01 and a bore x stroke of 81mm x 65mm. The engine produces 30 BHP of peak power and 31 Nm of peak torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox and gets a dual exhaust system. The bike continues to ride on a double cradle tubular chassis and gets a rear monoshock absorber with 7-step adjustment and a telescopic front fork. The Jawa Perak gets dual-channel ABS setup with a 240mm rear disc and a 280mm front disc brake.
The Jawa Perak is very accessible with a seat height of just 750mm and it has a kerb weight of 179 kg with fuel tank capacity of 14L.
Point to note, the Jawa Perak engine is retuned and is higher in capacity, hence produces much more power and torque. The classic Jawa and Jawa Forty Two in comparison have an output of 27 BHP & 28 Nm. The Perak bobber model although a single-seater, is still 9 kg heavier than the two other siblings.
Jawa had first announced that the Perak would be priced at INR 1.89 lakh. But given that the engine is now BSVI compliant, this price hike is justified. Bookings for the Jawa Perak will start from 1st January, 2020 and deliveries for the bike will commence only in April 2020. Expect long waiting periods for the Jawa Perak, leave aside the other delivery issues that Jawa has been infamous for.
