Jaguar XE SV Project 8 breaks own record for fastest saloon at Nurburgring

The Jaguar XE SV Project 8 is a special car. This is one of the fastest luxury saloon cars and it has now achieved a new feat. The British luxury car manufacturer Jaguar put the XE SV Project 8 to test at the Nurburgring, and the car broke its own record. As of date, the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 has the fastest lap time for a production car in a 4-door trim at the Nurburgring which stands at 7 minutes and 18.361 seconds.

This is the latest and fastest lap by the XE SV Project 8 which has been developed by Jaguar Special Vehicle Operations division. The lap time has been officially verified across the 20.6 km long track. Also to be noted, that this time is 2.9 seconds faster than the Project 8 cars previous record which was achieved in November 2017. Also, what is commendable is that this makes the XE SV Project 8 almost 7 seconds faster than any other 4-door production car on sale worldwide.

In the Nurburgring mid-range production class category, the Project 8 car from Jaguar was the first vehicle to set an whole lap official record across the 20.8 km track reading 7 minutes and 23.164 seconds.

This time round, the XE SV Project 8 had the height adjustable suspension with coil-over units and twin-springs set to the ‘track’ ride height. The car also featured elements which improved performance such as a front splitter and carbon fibre rear wing. The tyres used during this lap record  were Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres, and by the way, these are tyres which are road legal.

Powering the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 is a 5.0L, supercharged, V8, all-wheel-drive petrol motor producing 600 PS of power and can proper the car from 0-100 kmph in 3.7 seconds and achieve a top speed of 320 kmph. The car also has a fully flat and covered underbody for better aero efficiency.

Jaguar will officially manufacture the limited edition XE SV Project 8 and will come in 3 4-door variants:

  • Two-seat track pack
  • Four-seat with same aero as the track pack
  • Touring-spec with fixed rear spoiler limited to 15 units only and 299 kmph top whack
