Jaguar expands the E-Pace range with the New R-Dynamic Black Edition. This iteration of the SUV will have enhanced connectivity features along with a host of new changes to the exteriors. Leveraging Jaguar’s advanced Premium Transverse Architecture, E-Pace now has a choice of efficient powertrains like Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) and Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV). Connectivity features like wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto will make E-Pace ownership a lot more seamless.

What’s New In This New R-Dynamic Black Edition?

As suggested by the name, this edition gets a lot of black design elements. This makes the SUV look a lot more mature and sophisticated. The inclusion of Gloss Black inserts at door mirror caps, front bumpers, prominent grille, side window surround and the side vent enhance the distinctive outlook of the E-Pace to a whole new level. The 19-inch Satin Grey alloy wheels with contrasting red brake calliper make the SUV stand out from the crowd. The R-Dynamic Black Edition is available with all the E-Pace shades as standard, along with a new Ostuni White. This edition is available with a choice of 2.0-litre Ingenium MHEV powertrains, including both diesel and petrol.

More Connectivity And Tech

Complementing the attractive exterior look is the new interior which is now much more improved in every aspect. The centre of attraction is the unique curved 11.4-inch HD touchscreen in the central instrument panel. This system gets the Pivi Pro infotainment system which Jaguar claims to be very intuitive. The user can carry out 90 per cent of the everyday tasks with just two taps from the home screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto will soon become a standard feature across the trim. Jaguar confirmed that a SOTA update would enable the above two connectivity features very soon. Owners will also have the convenience of charging their phone without the hassle of cables using wireless charging.

E-Pace’s New Infotainment System

Jaguar’s new advanced Pivi Pro infotainment system gets a host of embedded apps and dual-sim technology, which helps in downloading updates and stream content simultaneously. The driver will now have more control over the 12.3-inch HD interactive Driver Display. The updated system features enhanced graphics, media information, phone function and a fully configurable layout with digital dials. There’s also an optional Head-Up Display on offer. Jaguar also offers the E-Pace with a Cabin Air Purification system, which improves the air quality by removing allergens. There’s a dedicated ‘Purify’ button within the central touchscreen to enable this filtration system. E-Pace S model now gets the Auto High Beam and memory function for door mirrors and seats as standard fitment.

Mechanicals and Powertrain Options

The use of Jaguar Land Rover’s Premium Transverse Architecture enables the E-Pace with the latest electricity powertrain technologies. The new engine mounts help to have more control over the throttle. The new suspension layout makes the ride quality much more comfortable without compromising the agility and handling aspects. Jaguar E-Pace is now available with four-cylinder petrol and diesel Ingenium engine with the MHEV technology along with an efficient three-cylinder P300e PHEV powertrain.

This specific powertrain uses a 200PS 1.5-litre three-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine coupled with a 109OS Electric Rear Axle Drive motor. The powertrain featuring the MHEV technology gets a Belt Integrated Starter Generator. This uses regenerative braking to charge the 48-volt lithium-ion battery. The 0 to 100 kmph timing of the P300e PHEV is rated at 6.5 seconds, while for the 300 PS MHEV variant, it takes around 6.9 seconds.
