The future of automobiles is electric and many major automakers are planning to introduce a number of electric vehicles in the portfolio, some are even planning to replace their complete internal combustion engine line-up with 100% electric-powered vehicles and one such brand that announced its future plans is Jaguar. The brand under the ‘Reimagine’ initiative plans to go full electric. Jaguar is set to become an all-electric luxury brand from 2025 to ‘realise its unique potential’.
The brand will be leveraging the knowledge-sharing and collaboration with the Tata Group exploring the potential synergies on clean energy, data, connected services, and software development. The brand will also streamline the company structure as well as retain, bring it to the right size, repurpose and reorganise global manufacturing. The reimagination of Jaguar as an electric-only company will not only bring a unique customer experience but also a positive impact on society.
Under the new global strategy, Jaguar is beginning its journey towards becoming a net-zero carbon business by 2039. Even Land Rover plans to bring 6 pure electric vehicles in the next five years. All six models from Land Rover will be electric SUVs with the first fully electric Land Rover SUV to arrive in 2024. By the end of this decade, Jaguar Land Rover will have all-electric vehicles in their portfolio and the brand expects 100% of Jaguar and 60% of Land Rovers sold with zero tailpipe powertrains.
The brand is also exploring the clean-hydrogen fuel-cell and is likely to keep the technology prepared for future demand. The brand also revealed that, as part of the long-term investment programme, the brand is already developing the clean-fuel technology and prototypes are arriving on UK roads within the next 12 months. This will set new benchmarks on sustainable fuel use and environmental and societal impacts.
