Jaguar Land Rover will compete in the Gen3 era of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. The company mentioned that this commitment would help Jaguar’s target to become an all-electric luxury brand from 2025. The development in Jaguar Racing’s motorsport operation will aid the company to exchange technology for its passenger segment as well. Thus, enabling the customers with quality products and sustainable technologies. This initiative will also help the British luxury carmaker accomplish its target to achieve zero tailpipe emissions by 2036. And net-zero status across the supply chain, operators and products by 2039.
After 17 years, this is the first time that Jaguar will race on home soil for the London E Prix. Drivers Sam Bird and Mitch Evans are more than motivated and determined to put on a great show and entertain the home crowd this weekend. Jaguar’s I-TYPE race cars have achieved four victories and 12 podiums out of 59 Formula E Races. And this is the breeding ground for Jaguar to test its technologies and see how it fares against the competition. Jaguar Racing also confirmed that going into the Gen3 era of Formula E, it will continue its long-term partnership with Williams Advanced Engineering.
All the Gen3 electric race cars will make their debut in season 9 at the end of next week. These cars are much more efficient and at the same time more powerful as well. The vehicle will set a new benchmark for the all-electric race car. The Gen3 car will see the power output increase from 250 kW to 350 kW with a maximum regenerative braking power increasing from 250 kW to 600 kW. These Gen3 Formula E racing cars will be a testimony of the EV segment’s cutting edge technology.
