Isuzu has recently unveiled a refreshed version of its popular MU-X SUV, showcasing a host of updates that promise to bolster its appeal in the competitive SUV market. The facelift, which was revealed in Thailand, marks a mid-cycle refresh for the second-generation MU-X, bringing with it a blend of aesthetic enhancements and technological upgrades.
The exterior of the MU-X facelift features a more modern and aggressive look, aligning with current design trends while maintaining its rugged charm. The new Isuzu MU-X features a more prominent bumper with bigger air intakes, a wider grille, and LED headlamps that look more aggressive. Full-width taillights and an updated bumper are added to the back. The gloss-black garnish surrounding the intakes, the blacked-out grille, the front skid plate with the rear bumper extensions, and other details are exclusive to the MU-X RS specification. The 20-inch blacked-out alloy wheels, matching wheel arches, and roof set off the new bodywork beautifully. The center caps and RS badging provide a striking contrast of green accents.
Inside, the cabin has received updates to improve comfort and convenience for both driver and passengers. In addition to the revised 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, the cabin now has a new 7-inch digital instrument console. In addition to wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capability, the SUV’s RS trim level adds red ambient lighting. Redesigned door pads and seats complement the truffle brown leather upholstery and matching accents seen in the Ultimate trim.
Underneath its refreshed exterior, the MU-X retains its robust ladder frame chassis and proven powertrain options, ensuring that its performance remains reliable and capable. The Thai-spec MU-X is powered by two different diesel engines. The top-end variants have a 3.0-liter motor with 187 horsepower, while the entry-level trims have a 1.9-liter engine with 148 horsepower. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The drivetrain also has two options in the form of a rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
While the facelifted MU-X has started turning heads in Thailand, there is anticipation about its launch in other markets. Isuzu enthusiasts in India are particularly keen to see if this updated model will make its way there as a replacement for the first-generation version currently on sale.
