Back in August 2023, Ola Electric had revealed its plans for an electric four wheeler. The car was expected to be launched in 2024. However, till now, there has been no update on the same. However, now, according to a leaked patent image, we have an image of the aforementioned electric car.
While the car in the patent filings looks inline with the teasers Ola had shared previously, it seems that the car is not in its production ready form.
Overall, the Ola car carries a modern and minimalist design approach. It also looks inspired from the Tesla Model 3 or Model S as well. While it is a sedan, the rear gets a coupe like design.
In electric vehicles, aerodynamics tend to matter much more than conventional ICE vehicles. This can be seen in Ola’s car as well. The car gets a smooth exterior with aerodynamic body parts all around. The car has a good wheelbase, with the wheels located at the four corners.
As it’s an EV, there is no conventional grille at the front. There is a smooth fascia with dual air intakes. Headlamp units consist of horizontal elements enclosed in a sleek wrap-around design. There also appears to be a thin full-width light strip that could double up as a DRL.
Ola’s first electric car could also come with aero rims and a glass roof as well. That said, there is no information yet regarding the rear portion.
On the inside, we have been updated thanks to the teasers the company has released. It gets a two-spoke steering with haptic controls, along with a digital instrument cluster. There is a large horizontal touchscreen unit for infotainment. Ola is likely to retain the minimalist design philosophy on the insides as well. There are very few physical buttons seen on the insides.
While the company has not yet released any official information, it is likely to get a 500 km range. This means, there will be a 70-80 kWh battery unit. Performance wise, Ola claims a sub 4 second time for 0-100 km/h.
Ola is targeting a 2024 launch with prices in the higher segment. This car is likely to cost upwards of INR 25 lakh given the features and powertrain.
