Renowned British supercar manufacturer Mclaren has sold and delivered its 620R supercar for the first time in India. The exclusive customer from Bangalore has chosen a blue colour scheme with black and orange highlights for the 620R. Since Mclaren has built 350 units of the exclusive 620R, this particular one is the 65th car in the lineup. Being a race car for the road, the Mclaren 620R retains the DNA of the 570S GT4 race car.

Mclaren 620R: Design Details

The 620R is the most powerful machine in Mclaren’s Sport Series of supercars, making it the fastest around the track. The automaker has utilized the 570S GT4’s single-piece carbon fibre Monocell II chassis as the base for the 620R. This allows the 620R to follow Mclaren’s lightweight design ethos and also sport plenty of aerodynamic elements and racing components.

These include the GT4’s fully-adjustable carbon fibre rear wing, which offers 185 Kg of downforce in its most aggressive setting. Meanwhile, Mclaren has also redesigned the front bumper, splitter, and bonnet for added aerodynamic efficiency and performance on road/track. The automaker offers three standard colours for the 620R – McLaren Orange, Silica White, Onyx Black, along with orange/white vinyl.

Mclaren 620R: Powertrain & Performance Details

Powering the Mclaren 620R is a 3.8-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 610 PS and 620 Nm. With the engine sending the power to the rear wheels, the 620R can accelerate from 0-100 kph in 2.9 seconds. Mclaren has paired the engine to a 7-speed, dual-clutch, automatic transmission and offers stiffer powertrain mounts for added rigidity. For enhanced performance, the 620R sports manually adjustable dampers, which offer 32 clicks of adjustment and are 6 Kg lighter.

Along with a lightweight motorsport suspension, the 620R also sports aluminium wishbones, Pirelli performance tires, and stiffer anti-roll bars. Within the cockpit, Mclaren offers super-lightweight carbon-fibre racing seats with six-point harnesses, carbon-fibre shift paddles, and a Track Telemetry system. Meanwhile, the automaker has removed the floor carpets, glovebox, air-conditioning, audio system, and IRIS navigation to reduce the overall weight. Mclaren has also offered lightweight 19-inch alloy wheels at the front and 20-inch rears with 8% larger contact patch tires.
