Indian FTR 1200 Carbon revealed, India launch soon

America’s first motorcycle company, Indian Motorcycles has revealed the Indian FTR 1200 Carbon. The 2020 model is based on the Indian FTR 1200 flat tracker with add-on performance components inspired by the company’s Grand National title winner – FTR 750.

As the name suggests, the Indian FTR 1200 Carbon comes with carbon fibre headlamp shroud, carbon fibre front fender, carbon fibre tank/air filter box cover and carbon fibre pillion cowling. The bike also features an ‘FTR Carbon’ branded piano black centre console and twin stacked Akrapovič brushed stainless steel exhaust with titanium mufflers finished in matte black colour. Other features include full LED headlamps, LED taillamps, a 4.3-inch full-colour touchscreen instrumentation console equipped with USB fast-charge port and Bluetooth connectivity.

Powering the Indian FTR 1200 Carbon is the same 1203cc  liquid-cooled, V-Twin-Cylinder engine produces 126 PS of power and 120 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed sliding mesh transmission with power assist slipper clutch, inspired by the race components used on the FTR 750 race bike.

The engine is wrapped around by a trellis chassis finished in red and rides on 43mm fully adjustable upside-down cartridge-type front forks with 150mm of long travel and hollow front wheel axle to minimise unsprung weight. For the rear, the bike features a fully adjustable coil-spring type, oil dampened monoshock absorber with aluminium piggyback gas-assist mounted to the side of the tubular steel rear swingarm with 150mm of wheel travel and a hollow wheel axle to minimise unsprung weight. Stopping power comes from dual radially mounted 320mm brakes rotors with Brembo Monobloc M4.32 radially mounted callipers on the front and a single 260mm disc with a Brembo floating calliper on the rear.

For safety, the bike is armed with a standard ABS system. Other rider aids include lean-angle sensitive stability control, traction control, front-wheel lift-up mitigation and three riding modes – Standard, Sport and Rain.

Indian Motorcycles has listed the FTR 1200 Carbon on its official website in India confirming that the bike will be coming to the Indian market. The brand has not yet revealed the price and is likely to announce the same soon.
