Audi has officially revealed the 8th generation A6 sedan ahead of its debut at the Geneva Motor Show next week. This is an all-new A6, and we expect it to arrive in India in 2018-19.
The new A6 measures 4,939mm in length and is 7mm longer than before, 1,866mm in width and is 12mm wider than before, 1,457mm in height and is 2mm taller than before. Also, the wheel size options range from 17 – 21 inches. The new A6 weighs 1,575 kg, which is 5 – 25 kg heavier than the older model, but that is thanks to the new mild-hybrid systems. Audi claims that the new A6 has more head room, more shoulder room, more rear leg room than before and has a 530L boot space.
Changes you can easily notice include new hexagon shaped front grille, new LED headlamp & tail lamp, new LED DRLs, larger air dams, new wheels, sharper crease lines, new rear view mirrors, shark fin antenna, chrome weather strip & everything else is typical of an Audi. On the inside, you get options to choose your interior colours. You can opt for a 10.1 inch upper screen while the 8.6 inch screen is available as standard for the operating concept. New MMI, new steering wheel, more luxurious seats, touchscreen for climate control, full digital display for the speedo console, flat dashboard design and a generous use of wood.
Self learning navigation function keeps you updated if your daily route can cause any delay. A total of 37 driving assistance functions are avaiolable with the new A6. It also comes with autonomous driving function.
The new A6 will come with mild-hybrid engines only. For now, you can expect the V6, 3.0L TFSI petrol, 2.0L TDI diesel and a 3.0L TDI diesel in two states of tune. Suspension setup is also option which includes standard, sport, optional with adaptive damper control and full adaptive air suspension.
